Jackson was diagnosed with multiple life threatening conditions at age five months. Now, two years old, his doctors have identified 34 issues which he and mom manage with every day. His mom (Heather) shares their story and the impact of receiving support from Hearts and Hands and her appreciation of our donors.
Mary had just returned from a tour in Afghanistan when three year old Lily was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Lily’s dad works part time and was planning to go back to school, but now that is on hold. Mary is a reservist. Both parents have lost work hours and are juggling Lily’s care. Lily will undergo surgery to remove the tumor followed by months of chemotherapy and radiation. Like most families, they live paycheck to paycheck and Lily’s illness has created a significant financial burden as they have exhausted resources. Hearts and Hands was able to help Lily’s family with rental assistance and utilities so they could focus on caring for their daughter.
